Sad news has hits the camp of the ruling party as one of their communicators has passed on to the ancestral world.
Issues surrounding the demise of a popular Communications Officer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region, William Manful-Sam are being uncovered.
Giving eyewitness account, His Landlady, Auntie Grace on the morning before Manful-Sam’s passing alerted Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson of Connect Fm in Takoradi that the condition of the deceased was frightening and prayed party people could act quickly to save him.
But it was too late, as later that day [Saturday 6th March 2021] around 12:30 pm, news broke of he giving up the ghost.
Per her account, Manful-Sam was simply abandoned by the family and party people. She disclosed the middle aged [54 years] man was diagnosed of kidney failure and had no money to pay for his bills. On that morning, Auntie Grace made a call on Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson hoping to get him mobilise some resources and help from party men [NPP] and other benevolent people to support him.
She cried that the night before that day was so scary and terrible that at every moment she.could hear Manful-Sam groan. Auntie Grace shared that a few parliamentarians in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis; Kobby Okyere Darko, Joseph Cudjoe, and Dr. Prince Armah paid him a visit some weeks ago but the support offered was inadequate to settle the medical bills.
“The situation is terrible. Last week they sent him GHC2,000.00 and that is not enough for his dialysis. He’s missed a couple of sessions. His feet had swollen and unable to move the body. He is unable to eat. He keeps crying and that makes me sad. The wife left her the moment the condition started. Family members think it’s the wife that had cursed him.
“No one is with him. He’s alone. I can’t let him die here. It’s so bad. I’m scared for him. I haven’t slept the entire night,” she stated in a telephone conversation with the broadcast journalist.
The party in the Western Region is taken by grief. The body had since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta morgue, awaiting a final decision by the family about the funeral arrangements.
Many that knew Mr. Manful-Sam speaks about his activeness in party politics and how he selflessly championed media discussions on political.issues in the region. It is a heavy blow to the NPP.
